Xserv

The next-generation Xserve.

More power. Less energy.

Introducing the next-generation Xserve. Based on the new Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem processors with 8MB of fully shared L3 cache, an integrated memory controller, and up to 12 DIMM slots of fast 1066MHz DDR3 ECC memory, the all-new Xserve architecture delivers up to twice the performance1 and up to 89 percent greater performance per watt over the previous generation.3 The perfect server for demanding workloads, Xserve offers massive internal storage and expansion options. A new 128GB solid-state boot drive option uses a fraction of the power of a spinning disk and provides up to 48x faster random-access speeds while freeing up internal drive bays for up to 3TB of hardware RAID storage using SATA or SAS drives.2 And the Bonjour-enabled lights-out management controller allows remote monitoring and power control from anywhere on the network.

Xserve includes an unlimited-client license of Mac OS X Server v10.5 Leopard: a powerful, easy-to-use, UNIX-compliant server operating system. Over 250 innovative features including Podcast Producer, a complete, end-to-end solution for encoding, publishing, and distributing high-quality podcasts; Wiki Server, for wiki-powered intranet websites that allow teams to create and collaborate with ease; and iCal Server, the world’s first commercial CalDAV standards-based calendar server make Xserve the ideal server for Mac and mixed-client workgroups in education, business, and creative markets.
